I don’t think I can even begin to say how happy I am with my new kitchen! But I will try. De Humphries came in and helped this recent widow replan the tiny kitchen I had lived in for 35 years. My house was built in the mid-1950’s, so bringing it (and me) into the 21st century was her challenge. She held my hand through all the myriad decisions to be made and ultimately transformed my old kitchen (which was a symphony of sagging oak cabinets, darkness, linoleum, and wallpaper) into a modern, well-lighted jewel. My new cabinets have many “sexy” innovations which are making my new life so easy. The appliances are gorgeous and easy to use, even though they had to stay in the same locations as their predecessors. The sink, the floors, the walls and backsplashes, and the lighting are all delights! I break into a huge smile every time I walk in. De was with me every step of the way. De worked with me for well over a year on a big renovation which included removing the wall between our old dining area and kitchen, creating a whole new kitchen from the ground up, a complete bathroom redesign, and an amazing new entranceway. My husband and I, and all our friends and family, absolutely LOVE it! The redesign opened up our space in a big way. There is no way I could ever have done this without her expert knowledge, guidance, ideas, and patience. Between house visits, we would often meet on zoom, discussing and looking over designs, materials, light fixtures, colors. She knew all stores to find what we were looking for. Besides looking beautiful and having a real WOW factor, the new kitchen is so functional and ergonomic. For example, across from the dishwasher I have cabinets with deep drawers for my plates and bowls (being 5'1" it really helps having dishes in the drawer rather than higher up). My everyday glasses and cutlery are opposite the DW as well. I have a handy breakfast nook that has a toaster, coffee maker, etc., but is hidden behind cabinet doors. Taking down the wall allowed for one of the kitchen counters to wrap around to a wet bar facing the dining area. I also absolutely love the huge, gorgeous island, good for both entertaining and multiple food prep areas. We made sure the island seating had room for my 6’3” husband. The bathroom is a jewel, with a fixed glass panel door, curbless shower, beautiful mosaic, heated floors, and more. The entranceway redesign included replacing a cedar pony wall that surrounded a downward stairway, with black iron open railings, totally transforming the space. De also went the extra mile in many areas, such as helping me decide where to put everything away in the new kitchen. She worked with our decision not to buy any new furniture at this time and helped us make the best use of what we had, even helping steam clean our area rugs and hang pictures. She was very warm and personable, and we developed an open and trusting relationship. As a final note, I meant to write this review months ago, but got sidetracked.
